Spring Fun

I know it's been a while since my last post but it's because my little guy is running me ragged these days!  As soon as the weather turned sunny he has to be outside every minute possible.  He has too much energy for this Momma; at least maybe I'll loose a few L-B's in the process.

We've been feeding the ducks, biking, and playing in the water.

The ducks at Layton park are fun because they've gotten so used to people they'll come right up to you to eat their bread!

Most recently we headed out to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point.  So pretty every year!

Needless to say with the weather changing over the next few days we're going to be going stir crazy in doors.

Easter

We had a fun Easter this year.  It was fun experiencing it with a toddler for the first time.
Tyce woke up to his basket that the Easter Bunny left him, as well as a new lawn mower; he'll be excited to help his Dad with the lawn this summer I'm sure.

Tyce tried a little Easter egg hunt on Saturday at Lisa's parents house and he wasn't too into it so we decided to scratch our hunt for Easter day, maybe next year!  I ended up making deviled eggs instead.

Now you can't see much of Tyce's cute Easter Sunday clothes because that little wiggle worm wouldn't sit still to save his life to take a picture.  All he wanted to do was play in Grandpas car; which of course Grandpa let him do.  In the end though you can see the adorable tie that Mom and I whipped up!  I think I'll have to make more they were so easy.  Maybe even a matching tie for his Daddy too!

It was fun to start our new Easter traditions and I'm already looking forward to next years Easter when Tyce will be into it even more.

I just finished up some projects and thought I would share.

This is my favorite project that we completed.  I found my inspiration on Pinterest and with the help of my hubby we put one together.  The background is a cute quatrefoil fabric I found at JoAnn.  We are hoping to start making and selling these regularly.  They are easily customizable in any color, measurements and background.  I wish I had room for them in my house!

Our Scary Night

Last night was one heck of a night for our family.  To start Tyce woke up the night before last with what sounded like the croup.  He was coughing that nasty cough and was having a hard time breathing; partly because he was crying and partly because of the croup.  Kyle was up with him most he night, but by morning he sounded lots better and acted even better than he sounded.  Later, when he was down for his nap, he woke up crying and not breathing well again.  We tried the steamy room, and breathing cold air (only it wasn't cold enough yesterday to help) nothing seemed to be helping.  He was really wheezy.  I was getting worried and wasn't sure what needed to be done.  He was acting just fine, but I didn't like how he was sounding.

Kyle and I were in the kitchen getting dinner started at about 5p.m., we were talking about whether we should take him to insta care when.... BAM!  We heard an awful noise and ran around the corner into the living room to see Tyce standing up, crying, with blood running down his face.  We're not completely sure what happened but we think he was running, tripped and hit his head on a little IKEA side table we have on his way down. We scooped him up, cleaned his head a little and knew right away we needed to go to the Dr.

Tyce was so tough, he only cried for a minute or two.  We made it to the Dr and they bumped him right to the top of the list because they didn't like his breathing and then there was the blood factor.

First he got a shot to help open his airway.  Then we had to get his wound cleaned and numbed with gel.  He had finally started settling down from the cleaning, about 40 minutes later, when it was time to go get the stitches.

Now this was a little traumatic for everyone.  Kyle and I had to hold him down while the nurse held his head.  He really was such a good boy, he didn't struggle to much at all, he just cried and cried; it was scary!  Three stitches later we were done.  Only then the Dr. decided he still didn't like the way he was breathing so he ordered up a breathing treatment.

By now Tyce had had enough, and it was a good long struggle to keep that mask next to his face until all the medication was gone.

Finally we got to head home, by now it was almost 8pm.  We were all exhausted.

Later that night his breathing got labored again which made me nervous.  I kept a close eye on him all night which meant only a little sleep for me.  Around 3 a.m. his breathing got easier and my fears got to rest a little.  Today everyone is doing much better, though maybe a little groggy and grumpy.  We're all happy to put this behind us.  Hopefully our little guys war scar wont be too bad, and Mommy wont have to do thing again for a long time!  I don't think my heart could take it.

Thanks to everyone for your concern and well wishes!

Aquarium Day

Tyce is just starting to get big enough to have an attention span of more than two seconds and he loves to look at animals so Kyle and I decided it would be fun to go to the Living Planet Aquarium for the afternoon.

Tyce loved looking at the fish, he even got to pet the sting rays!  Mostly I think he just enjoyed the freedom of running around in a new place not being told no a million times.  Kyle and I had fun too, watching Tyce was so exciting, plus I forget that I like going to do those kind of things.

It was nice to have something to do indoors since its cold out.  I think our next outing will be to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Pointe since Tyce loves to "Rawr" like a dinosaur!

Blurb Book: Journal for Tyce

A little bit ago I told a friend of mine about how I wanted to start keeping a better journal for Tyce of all the cute little things he does and the milestones in his life.  I had hand written a few things in a cute little journal that was given to me as a gift but I hadn't kept up on it very well.   I thought I'd probably do better if I typed it out because I can just sit down and get it done quick.  She suggested that I start my own private blog just for Tyce like she had done for her kiddos.

What a brilliantly simple idea right?!  So started the blog "Dear Tyce"
(I ripped off the title too, it was too cute. Thanks Mandy!)
When she told me about it I immediately thought of how you can turn your blog into books.  How fun would it be to print out a book of my thoughts and observations for him to read down the line; one for every year of his life.  Maybe give them to him on his wedding day...or when he moves away?

I quickly transferred everything I had written onto the blog and then filled in the rest with blog posts from this blog about him, as well using dated pictures I had and writing my memories from those events.

I shopped around and found the website Blurb.com where you can download your blog as well as customize the layouts, fonts, pictures.  It was awesome!

(Please pardon the horrible pictures, why I always wait until the middle of the night to take pics I'll never know)

I finished his first book and got it in the mail a few weeks ago.  I gotta tell you...it's totally legit!  I love it!  I hope Tyce will too!
Now if only I keep it up!
